Removable Appliances

Removable appliances can have many shapes and appearances. "Retainers" are just one type. Retainers are used for holding the teeth in their new positions after active orthodontic teatment. Similar appliances such as removable expanders and molar distalizers are made of the same material and used in certain phases of orthodontic treatment and come in a variety of colors. Other types of removable appliances are rubber bands or "elastics" which are used in almost every orthodontic treatment to help move teeth into the correct postion for optimal bite function.
